The short answer is that yes, it is legit, however a great many people that call themselves satanists do it more for thrills and/or for some twisted sense of identity. The true satanists keep to themselves and the forces they conjure can be dark indeed. I'm not talking about the people that follow the work of Anton LeVay and his minions either. Although they do indeed have their own rituals and use magick, the true satanic cults that practice such things as human sacrifice are a much darker breed and do not publicly admit to their affiliation with or even acknowledge that these cults exist.
