On the morning of 14th November 2014 in Chiang Mai (Thailand), 38 year old K.A.K. was found dead.
Inside his room at a guesthouse, the cleaning staff found 'K' dead on the bed. He had been dead for 2 days + alcohol poisoning was suspected as his cause of death. Epilepsy medication + empty alcohol bottles were found in the room.
'K', an Oxford graduate, had come to Thailand months prior. He had met a Thai woman at a bar + began a relationship with her. The woman had convinced him to invest 10 million baht in her plan for starting an elephant breeding business. However, once she got the money, she did a runner. When 'K' realised that he had been conned, he sank into a deep depression. He turned to drinking heavily to drown his sorrows.
He eventually got chatting to an American woman who was also staying at the guesthouse. They became friends, with her supporting him through the rough patch he was in. Though the woman eventually went back to the States + this made 'K' even more depressed. Soon, the drinking became out of control + he was found dead.
