What drives somebody to commit suicide?

It's not difficult to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes.
What would you have to feel to end your life?
Hopeless/helpless/hurting??? People don't kill themselves cause they have nothing better to do.

Honestly I don't know why wouldn't people kill themselves out of boredom.
